Start Date: 2 weeks from offer

Shift Schedule: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM, 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM, or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide general nursing care to incarcerated individuals in a correctional healthcare setting. The LPN will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician and provide routine medical care, medications, treatments, assessments, and emergency assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide general nursing care and clinical services within the scope of the LPN license and training.
• Assess inmates' physical and emotional health and report changes or concerns to the RN or physician.
• Check and document vital signs and other health information.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Implement nursing care plans as directed by the RN or physician.
• Assist with activities of daily living, hygiene, mobility, transfers, and repositioning when needed.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid and CPR when appropriate.
• Assist with medical care and documentation following injuries, illnesses, or other medical incidents.
• Follow infection-control and safety procedures.
• Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.
• Sterilize medical supplies and instruments using approved methods.
• Perform routine clinical tests and procedures as assigned.
• Document medications, treatments, observations, and patient information in electronic medical records.
• Communicate effectively with inmates, healthcare staff, and other facility personnel.
• Participate in required training, meetings, and continuing education.
• Be available to work assigned shifts and overtime as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk stairs and respond to patients throughout the correctional facility.
• Ability to assist with repositioning, transferring, and ambulating patients.
• Ability to push and pull wheelchairs and medical carts.
• Sufficient vision and hearing to safely provide patient care and communicate effectively.
• Ability to perform the physical and manual tasks required for direct patient care.

Qualifications:

• Current Pennsylvania Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, or eligibility to take the Practical Nurse Licensure Examination.
• Ability to document and enter patient information into an electronic medical record system.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
